The extruder in the
plastic sheet processing method heats, mixes the pellets, powders, crushed or returned materials, vents them, and then extrudes them from the slit die under pressure. Depending on the type of plastic and the thickness of the material, the hot extrudate is pulled out and shaped, or extruded onto a synchronously rotating traction roll with cooling (roll cooling process). The extrudate passes through a cooling section and is then trimmed and coiled. The sheet is cut to specifications. Both single-layer and composite molding materials can be produced. Generally, extruders can produce materials ranging from 0.1mm thick films to 50mm thick x 2000mm wide sheets, even up to 5000mm wide.
The extrusion casting method can process single-layer, multi-layer or multi-layer plastic thermoformed sheets of PP, PS, CPS, HIP5 and other materials coextruded with barrier materials such as EVOH and PA.
Cast plastic thermoformed sheets are mainly used in the production of thin, vacuum-coated thermoformed articles. A container processed from a cast thermoformed sheet made of PP/EVA/EVOH/EVA/PP structure has a function of blocking oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor transmission. It can extend the life of the product and can be used for the packaging of canned food and jelly pudding.
