Tokyo University of Japan Successfully Created the World's Strongest Magnetic Field

According to the report of Japan’s “Asahi Shimbun” on January 31, the research team of the University of Tokyo in Japan used an experimental device assembled with powerful electromagnets to successfully generate a magnetic field of 985 Tesla, which is the highest magnetic induction in the world. The team significantly updated the previous record of 730 Tesla. Strong magnetic fields help search for new materials such as superconductivity and magnets.

The results were published on the 30th in the electronic edition of the American Science Journal. According to Professor Yoshiro Yoyama, a professor at the University of Tokyo's Institute of Physical Research, the method they use is called "electromagnetic enrichment." In a special coil made of iron and copper, a current equivalent to 4000 kW is applied for about one ten-thousandth of a second, and a strong magnetic field is generated instantaneously. Due to the strong explosion that occurred, the experiment was carried out in a protective box surrounded by iron walls.
