US cancels 254 pesticide registrations

Due to the failure to pay annual maintenance fees due on January 15, 2011, the EPA cancelled 254 pesticide registrations. Routine cancellations affected 238 federal (FIFRA Part 3) registrations and 16 local special registrations (ie SLN registrations).

It is reported that 15,327 of the 3rd part of the registration paid maintenance fees, accounting for about 95% of all registrations before December 2010. There were 2053 items that met the registration requirements of Article 24C and paid maintenance fees, accounting for about 90% of all registrations. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was authorized to charge a maintenance fee of US$22 million in fiscal year 2011 (September 30th).
