Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyphenylene Ether is First NSF Certified

Ticona, a high-performance engineering plastics business of Celanese Corporation, announced that Fortron 6165A6 is the first mineral and glass-reinforced polyphenylene ether (PPS) certified by NSF (National Hygiene Society) No. 61. And approved for use in contact with drinking water applications. NSF approved its use of hot and cold drinking water from 23oC (73oF) to 82oC (179oF).

Ticona's high-flow Fortron PPS6165A6 is available in natural and black shades and can be used in drinking water applications where dimensional stability, heat resistance and strength are required over a wide temperature range.

The Fortron PPS series, which entered the NSF Standard List 61, also includes 40% glass-reinforced 1140L4 (standard) and 1140L6 (high-mobility) polyphenylene ether, and has successfully passed the NSF International test. Both of these products can be used for mineral and glass reinforced Fortron 6165A6 drinking water applications where strength and impact performance are required.
