Ceramic colorful beware of excessive metal

Experts on quality supervision of ceramic products pointed out that ceramic tableware should be especially vigilant against excessive heavy metals when used. Ceramic tableware has become the preferred tableware for many families because of its delicate, smooth and bright colors and exquisite designs. However, few people know that in the production process of ceramic tableware in order to ensure that the color is bright, usually in the glaze add lead, mercury, radium, cadmium and other harmful heavy metal elements.

Ceramic tableware can be divided into three kinds according to the ceramic flower decoration: glaze color, underglaze color, and glaze color. The enamel coloring process is relatively simple and therefore the price is relatively low. The "toxins" such as lead and cadmium present in ceramic dishes are mainly derived from the pigments on the glaze. Lead, mercury, cadmium, etc. in the glaze are all harmful elements to the body. Therefore, in the choice of ceramic tableware is best not to use glaze color decoration, especially the inner wall of ceramic dishes do not paint.

In addition to colored porcelain, white porcelain that is not glazed may also have excessive levels of heavy metals. If ceramic clay is not qualified, it may lead to diseases such as lead poisoning. "Three without" ceramic products, especially ceramic tableware sold on the ground, the quality is often difficult to meet the standard, and some lead and cadmium dissolution exceeds the specified target of more than 10 times or even dozens of times.

Experts give four suggestions:

1. When you buy, you should carefully observe whether the inner wall of the tableware is smooth and clean with nails. If the tableware has a pattern and there is no part of the pattern that refracts the light, the touch in the two places is different. The glaze can be scraped off with the nail, and it is likely that the heavy metal exceeds the mark. Inferior products.

2. Newly purchased ceramic tableware should be boiled in boiling water for 5 minutes, or soaked in white vinegar for 2 to 3 hours. The harmful substances in the ceramic tableware should be dissolved. If a noticeable change in color is found, they should be discarded.

3. Ceramic dishes are best not heated in the microwave.

4. Do not use ceramic tableware for long-term storage of acidic foods and beverages such as fruit juices, wines, coffees, etc., because the longer ceramic tableware contains acidic foods or beverages, the higher the temperature, the easier it will dissolve lead.
