The millions of kilowatt-class nuclear power equipment independently researched and developed by Gree Electric Appliances has carried out scientific and technological achievements appraisal in Zhuhai. The two nuclear power units independently developed by Gree belong to the national science and technology major project and have completely independent intellectual property rights. As a key supporting equipment for nuclear power engineering, refrigeration equipment has been monopolized by foreign brands. As the core equipment of the VWS system (central chilled water system) in the nuclear island project, the refrigeration equipment must provide cooling energy for the nuclear island heating equipment, ensure the safe and continuous production of the nuclear power plant, and provide a safe and comfortable environment for the staff. Therefore, its design and process requirements are more complicated and demanding. Compared with the service life of ordinary units of 25-30 years, the operating life of nuclear power special units is required to be as high as 60 years.

Due to the performance test of the nuclear power unit and the certification of the whole test bench, it is required to meet the requirements of the American ARI standard and the domestic CAP1400, and it is resistant to earthquakes, typhoons, high reliability, high corrosion resistance, low energy consumption, low noise, etc. Both are higher than other civil and commercial requirements, so there is currently no domestic and foreign brands that can provide both air-cooled screw and water-cooled centrifugal chillers that meet the requirements of the CAP1000/CAP1400 project.

The other unit identified this time - the million kilowatt nuclear power water cooled centrifugal chiller (frequency conversion), has 15 patents. Field experts unanimously believe that Gree's self-developed frequency conversion centrifugal unit has filled the domestic gap, and realized in the two-stage compressor compression technology, high-voltage high-power frequency conversion system, high-power high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor, high-efficiency and reliable heat exchanger design. Major breakthroughs and innovations, among which the permanent magnet synchronous frequency conversion centrifugal technology is at the international advanced level.
