Reporter: When did you first come into contact with mahogany furniture?
Cao Dong: I have been in contact for 26 years. I started learning woodcarving when I was 17 years old. Until now, I have been making mahogany furniture.
Reporter: Why did you make mahogany furniture at that time?
Cao Dong: At that time, I studied woodcarving in Dongyang, and later I went to Guangdong to work, and I am optimistic about the prospects for the development of mahogany furniture. Mahogany furniture has been doing this until now.
Reporter: After doing furniture for decades, what do you think of the mahogany furniture market here?
Cao Dong: The mahogany furniture market is getting better and better now. The key also depends on your positioning. Because there are many kinds of mahogany, it is collectively called mahogany furniture. Many of them are called mahogany furniture, but in the mahogany world, they cannot be called mahogany furniture.
Reporter: Just now you talked about the positioning of mahogany furniture. What is the positioning of Huahong mahogany furniture?
Cao Dong: My position is that Laos red rosewood is the main product. Red leaf sandalwood and Huanghuali are not as big as red rosewood. That is a small amount. After all, that kind of thing is not as big as red rosewood in terms of sales.
Reporter: From this point of view, the materials for mahogany furniture are in short supply. How is the supply here?
Cao Dong: According to our current channel for materials, there is no big problem for our manufacturers. After five or eight years, it will definitely change.
Reporter: After five or eight years, what should we do with the supply of materials?
Cao Dong: Like the supply to us here, basically the materials for one to two years are hoarded, because the mahogany materials we need here are mined and let him dry naturally within a year, which shows this The one-year plan is to prepare. For example, the wood we used this year was prepared after mining last year. The materials to be processed next year need to be prepared this year. So every year, one to two years of goods are hoarded in our hands.
Reporter: Does our Huahong Mahogany have a market overseas?
Cao Dong: There are a few overseas, but not very large. They are all sold domestically. Basically, one tenth is used for export.
Reporter: Who are the main consumer groups who come to buy mahogany furniture from us?
Cao Dong: Because my mahogany furniture's position is relatively high, those who can afford my mahogany furniture must first have a certain economic strength, and they must like mahogany furniture. Age is very important. Generally, people buy more than 45 years of age. Young people like mahogany furniture very few.
Reporter: Are the people who come to buy mahogany furniture mainly collectors?
Cao Dong: Our mahogany furniture is mainly for " taste " . Buying some mahogany furniture at home seems to have a high taste and also has a collection significance. Because everyone knows that if you buy mahogany furniture, it can be passed down from generation to generation. For example, some people spend 10 million to buy the software sofa, with a possible ten or twenty years will be bad to lose, and mahogany furniture, regardless of fifty years, a hundred years are still in it.

Cao Dong: Of course. Because the price of mahogany is increasing every year, like we do today, if the profit of selling mahogany furniture alone is not today. For example, if you bought mahogany five years ago, even if you do n’t do it today, you have already made a lot of money.
Reporter: Coming to our showroom of Huahong mahogany furniture, I found a feature that the carving of the furniture here is superb.
Cao Dong: Because we are dominated by Dongyang woodcarvings here, our products are different from conventional ones. My positioning is not comfortable and anti-ancient, we win with a unique design, I do things that are not on the market. We hired Ma Liangyong, a craftsman from Zhejiang Province, to design for us. We are very proud of this.
Reporter: What is the carving team over there?
Cao Dong: The people who helped me do the mahogany carving now are those who used to be apprentices with me.
Reporter: You are mainly making crafts and carvings. Is the utilization rate of mahogany materials very low?
Cao Dong: Normally 10 kg of mahogany material, we only use 4 kg. Because the skin of the wood is not used, some rotten tree hearts are also not used. Because you want to make quality, you must choose good mahogany wood. What Huahong says is expensive. The reason why it is expensive is that it is of high quality and high cost. We sell at a price of 15% plus the price of materials .
Reporter: In Huahong, there is a set of sofas with the theme of Suzhou gardens, which has been rated as the works recorded by Guinness of the World. Why did you make such a set of sofas at that time?
Cao Dong: Actually, to be honest, the sofa in Suzhou Garden was made six years ago. I always have a dream, because I am engaged in craftsmanship. When I was working in Guangdong, I had such a dream, to make a very big and good thing. Collect it and pass it on to you when you are done. Later, when I came to Suzhou to see the Suzhou gardens, I decided on this theme. You asked me why I chose the theme of Suzhou gardens. In fact, there were still many considerations at the time, such as Water Margin, Jiangnan scenery, Beijing Forbidden City or whatever, I did not choose it. The purpose of my choice of Suzhou gardens is that my factory is in Suzhou. The scenery over two years has been carved on this sofa, so that Suzhou people will be able to know the landscape of Suzhou gardens in the future. When I made this set of sofas at that time, the economic strength was not very good and I was afraid that I could not complete it, but after years of hard work, it was finally completed.
Reporter: Are there any new works recently?
Cao Dong: I now have a work that is twice as high as the Suzhou garden project. The drawings have been designed and the materials have been prepared. Make a screen based on 56 famous ethnic groups in China . There are 57 on the screen Dragon. The dragon in the middle is our motherland, and another 56 clan groups are grouped together. Its length is 20 meters and two meters high. The screen made is definitely the most Guinness, that is, I created my own The most.
Reporter: I saw a piece of news on the Internet saying that a certain brand of mahogany furniture sells mahogany furniture, but what do you think of this phenomenon?
Cao Dong: Our things cannot be bought and sold by weight, because our craft is very valuable. If you buy and sell by weight, then our manual is not like this. Because our technology has exceeded the cost of wood. For example, if our screen is sold for 20 million, if it is sold according to its weight, it is impossible to have 20 million. Because we have our craft elements, and now this craft is more and more valuable. The purpose of our Huahong is: customers are my friends, workers are my god. I'm talking the other way around, because I want my workers to improve my taste, and my customers are friends, so my business is simply too late to do.
Reporter: Before the interview, we talked and said that you want to build a Huahong museum, right?
Cao Dong: Yes. This is a plan five years from now. After the construction is completed, I will put some good mahogany handicrafts in my own museum. The things in the museum are not sold and only displayed to others. My idea is to fulfill this wish in five years.
Reporter: So where is the progress now?
Cao Dong: Now I am designing, and I am doing some good works and ideas.
