Research progress on single-phase white-light metal organic framework materials of Fujian Wujian Institute

Metal-organic framework compounds (MOFs) have unique advantages such as porosity, high specific surface area, and tunable pores, and are widely used in research of host-guest chemistry and preparation of functional composite materials.

Under the support of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Strategic Pilot Science and Technology Project, the 973 Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Young Talents Program of the Central Organization Department, Wu Xintao, a Fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a researcher at the Fujian Institute of Materials Structure, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and an associate researcher of the researcher Zhu Qilong team Wen Yuehong designed and synthesized a novel three-dimensional MOF, HSB-W1 (HSB = hydrogenated Schiff base), which has a high porosity and a large pore size. Studies have shown that ionic or neutral organic dye guest molecules such as fluorescent whitening agents, coumarins, DSM, and DCM can be easily introduced into HSB-W1, giving blue, green, and red emitting fluorescence, respectively. Further study found that HSB-W1 can introduce red, green, and blue guest dye molecules at the same time, and by adjusting their content and species, many high-quality single-phase white light composites are prepared with high quantum yield and color rendering index. 26% and 92.

For the first time, this study introduced the guest molecules of red/green/blue light three-primary emission simultaneously in MOF, making the generated white light more tunable, and then systematically optimizing the various indicators of white light; at the same time, it was innovatively introduced into the main body of MOFs. The emission of blue guest molecules not only extends the range of applicable MOFs and increases the white light emission performance of the material. The design and synthesis method of the MOFs white light material has a strong universality and can be used for the preparation of other superior single-phase white light composite materials.
