High precision coolant
Although the future trend is shifting from wet machining to dry machining, the use of coolant is sometimes inevitable. While most materials and processes allow for dry machining and minimal lubrication (MQL), materials such as mild steel require high precision coolant to achieve satisfactory chip control. CoroTurn ® HP is designed with fixed nozzles that spray high-precision coolant to the correct position on the cutting edge of the insert.
This high precision allows for the application of lower coolant pressures and direct direct chip breaking, process safety and high productivity. To optimize the machine's capabilities, further extend tool life and improve chip formation, the coolant flow and flow rate can be fine-tuned by changing the nozzle diameter.

Coolant injection has three main effects:
● Provide blade cooling in the contact area (A)
● Force the chips to quickly disengage from the blade surface, thus reducing the wear on the blade (B)
● Helps to split the chips into smaller pieces for easy discharge from the cutting zone.
Second, the gear
Soft turning and gear milling operations are required before surface hardening, and the challenge is to always achieve small dimensional tolerances. Careful preparation for the hardening stage provides a relatively straightforward hard part turning process.
Soft processing stage
The gears are usually forged and can be used with high cutting parameters during the turning process as long as the machining process is safe and reliable. For roughing and finishing operations, optimized troughs should be used to ensure efficient chip evacuation and smooth processing. The Wiper blade is a true productivity multiplier that allows for higher cutting feeds, which shortens the production cycle.

For the success of the subsequent hard turning phase, it is important to get the right size and tolerance during the soft cutting phase. CoroTurn ® TR with iLockTM design guarantees stability and prevents blade movement. Combined with Coromant Capto, it ensures unparalleled stability from the turret to the cutting edge. Our recommendation is to use the GC4325 material with the latest insert technology InveioTM, which guarantees excellent surface quality, longer tool life and higher cutting parameters. Hardening stage
Predictable machining processes are critical when turning hard parts. CBN inserts for precision hard drive transmission parts meet these needs. Welded CBN inserts often run the risk of damaging parts due to the removal of the cutter head. To avoid this risk, we recommend the Safe-Lok multi-rounded insert that combines mechanical interlocking with welding technology. Additional strength and safety can be provided. In addition, such blades have four to eight cutting edges instead of just one.
